Yesterday, 17 October 2011, we had a unforeseen hard drive failure on Server 7 causing service disruption for several clients.
This hard drive failure was proceeded by high server load and intermittent connectivity issues. When the hard drive failure was identified, we immediately conducted a "hot" swap of the faulty hard drive.
This, of course, then required us to rebuild the RAID array. The rebuild process is very I/O intensive and causes intermittent performance issues. So, although we were quick to address the hard drive failure, the rebuild process kept the server from operating at peak performance.
Thankfully Server 7 incurred minimal downtime and is now be ready to operate as you, and we, expect!
